Bodum Water Kettle – malfunction: super-hot grip and the company is not taking it back without a receipt. I got married on 4/2015. One item I had on my wedding registry was a Bodum Water Kettle. Long story short, we got it as a gift and started using it right away. Within 1 month, it started to malfunction. The grip is turning super-hot to the touch and sometimes the water kettle is not turning on. I called Bodum customer service after another month of fighting with the water kettle. They told me I need to show proof of purchase. Really, the branding on the water kettle could not be most prominent! The customer service rep insisted: No receipt, no return. I promise it is yours – no question about it. You make all sure of it on the kettle itself. All in all, I will not bother my friend or make her look through her receipts for a gift receipt purchased from AMAZON where you only have a limited time to return things too. The return policies of both companies are less than satisfactory! Bodum takes the cake. No receipt, no return. Worst company policy ever and again when you have your branding all over the product.

Horrible customer service! | Bodum review from San Francisco, California

I have gone through 3 beakers since introduced to bodum french press. Why do they not with stand hot water?? Each of these so called replacement beakerd are 26 dollars. And twice I had to replace them. I have tried contacting customer service pass couple if days and no one picks up the phone. Is there even employees there?? You call and call but no one picks up. No replies from email. I get better customer service from a company over seas than bodum USA. This is very frustrating and time consuming. Steering away from this huge scam of a company for ever!

Since they cut half the office staff in 2013, do not expect to have more than one customer service rep to answer the phone for end customers like you. Main focus is on wholesale customers. :roll

Bodum beaker always breaking

Brand New 4 Cup Bodum Coffee press, two weeks old ...Use a few times worked well accept for the plastic basket. Warning, when warm the beaker falls out.... when serving. Well today did not catch it time, coffee and glass all over the place. Called customer service about replacement, "Unfortunately there is no warranty on the breakage to any of our glass items, as we cannot see how the breakage occurs." BUYER BEWARE... This is a common issue with presses that have a plastic frame. Best to contact customer service and complain about getting hurt by using their product.

Threaten to sue them. This is Bodum's liabilty.

Once you threaten to sue (or go on youtube) this might go beyond the customer service rep who usually deletes those kind of emails.

I have inquired three times about obtaining a part to replace one that broke. The part should be a lifetime part - it is a hollow bolt that secures the lid to the shaft. It is not a standard replacement part that is available thought various sources. There is no other way to get a replacement unless Bodum can supply it. I used the email contact form on the Bodum USA web site. No response whatsoever. I regret my previous purchases; evidently they are so complacent that even a response is too much trouble. No service, no manners, no more of my business.

Another update

I tried one last time- with some venting - and they responded. After four messages back and forth they understood the problem and promised to send a replacement assembly, to be expected in 8 to 10 days.

Sounds happy, but It did not arrive.

Since then I have sent three more messages (with their message promising to send me the assembly) that they have not answered at all.

Today a replacement arrived in the mail. No word at all from Bodum, but I finally got what they had promised. What a hit-or-miss communication and service process over nearly six months.

I was cooking chicken with bodum Lasagna Dish. About 80 minutes into cooking my oven started to smoke. I had this item for 1 year. An entire corner of the dish and brooken off. Apparently this has happened to other susing their product. Bodum is very clear they do no warranty their glass products. When I called them up the person on the line basically sounded like they couldn't care less if I was burnt or what happened. They suggested writting what appears to be a neaningless letter to their sales department and now that I know their warranty As I wrote on my Amazon review I can use the other dish I bought as a shallow planter. This all comes after I bought a Pyrex dish about 2 years ago which shattered. At least the company I bought that from offered another dish, but instead I spent almost $90 to buy this instead. All I know is that my old white Corningware and Old colored Pyrex has never had an issue for some 30 years of use. Apparently claims that they make pyrex the good old fashioned way is some very short comings. In the ned I am glad that I was not seriously injured....but beware of claims from this company on their glass cookware.....!!!!!!

Unable to get what I needed | Bodum review from Kalamazoo, Michigan

I needed a 7 inch bodum glass. I had to buy a 6 inch. Local store couldn't help because Bodum requires too high an order for them. I have a lovely silver frame for my Bodum coffee press. It makes great coffee and I love it. Occasionally I need to replace the glass. This time I went to a local kitchen store. Because Bodum requires retail dealers to buy so much, I was unable to deal locally. So I went on the internet. The glass available on the internet was wrong for my frame. So I had to get a smaller - 6" rather than 7"- which makes less coffee and is a bit tippy .
